I thought it would be fun to share a Simple Sleep Mask DIY , using your Cricut machine. This project is great for beginners and they make fun gifts too 🙂 …
After all who doesn’t enjoy a full nights sleep??
If you have just bought you’re Cricut Machine and looking for help setting it up, check out my blog post here…
What you will need
- Sleep masks – I bought mine from Amazon
- Iron on (also known as HVT) in your chosen colour
- Cricut Machine
- Sheet of Teflon or I use a kitchen towel (I will explain why as we get started)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SLEEP MASK
First thing you need to do Is think about what you would like to personalise your sleep masks with. I chose eyelashes and two sayings. You can search these on Cricut Design Space, or I also have a membership with Makers Gonna Learn. Which is a great community of like-minded crafters and a great resource for SVG files to personalise your items.
Once you have decided, measure up your mask, either with a tape measure or I use the cricut cutting mat as a guide to measure up my text.
As, you are going to be ironing on the text, remember to mirror the text and set the settings to iron on!!!
Now you’re ready to cut!!
I have yet to invest in an Cricut EasyPress (but definitely on my wish list) so I use my regular household iron.
I change the settings to remove the steam and start off with the lowest heat setting and turn it up if needed…
Gently place your iron on the sleep mask and then place your text in place. Once you’re happy with the placement, you can go ahead and press the text in place , remove the iron and allow to cool for a few seconds , then peel away the plastic and the text should be ironed on to the sleep mask if not, repeat the steps until it sticks.
I then place the kitchen towel over the sleep mask and just press on again, this helps any parts of the iron on that might not have stuck.
Congratulations you have finished your first project, I hope you love it …
Don’t forget to pin this project for later 🙂
